Our Centre has certain rules to ensure not only the safety of our athletes, but also that they have a positive experience with Little Athletics.
PARENTAL SUPERVISION
We are most definitely NOT a child minding centre.
Little Athletics is a family orientated activity where not only the athletes can participate. We cannot conduct our centre competition without the assistance of our parent volunteers. So plan to be at little athletics with your children. They will benefit from your participation.
VANDALISM
Any defacing of Centre, School or Council property will not be tolerated. Offenders will be asked to leave the Centre. No refunds will be given.
SAFETY
Children and adults must check that the track is clear before crossing over. If not required to compete in the centre of the track, all athletes and parents should move anywhere on the outside of the track only.
Everyone must walk behind the throwing circles. Shot put and discus can be lethal weapons. The javelin area is OUT OF BOUNDS to all except the groups throwing and their officials.
No Dogs or Pets are to be brought to events.
Athletes are not permitted to have mobile phones in their possession whilst competing.
Athletes and parents may be withdrawn from the competition area if the safety rules are not observed.
EQUIPMENT
The equipment belongs to the centre, and therefore may only be used under the supervision of the age group leaders. All equipment should be returned after each competition day or training session. For safety reasons, please report any damage/faulty equipment to the Equipment Officer or Centre Manager.
DISCIPLINE
We want all children to enjoy their time with Little Athletics, but you can imagine the chaos if some rules are not abided by. Any child who is behaving in a manner which will ultimately injure themselves or worse, another athlete, will be reported. Any child who is discriminating against another athlete will also be reported. Reports should be made to the Centre Manager and action may be taken at the discretion of the committee. Bad behaviour and language will not be tolerated.
SUN SAFETY
Highfields and District Little Athletics is a SUNSAFE Centre. We as parents, have a responsibility to our children to ensure they are protected against the sun’s UV rays. Please ensure children wear sunscreen and a hat.
Remember SLIP! SLOP! SLAP! - PARENTS TOO!!
Sunscreen will be available on all competition mornings.
All athletes are to wear a sun safe bucket hat when not competing in an event.
HDLA Sun Protection Policy
NO SMOKING
Little Athletics QLD has a strict NO SMOKING POLICY. No individual is permitted to smoke in any competition or spectator areas during any Little Athletics competition.
GUEST ARRANGEMENTS AND VARIATION IN FEES
Participation in athletics should be as accessible as possible. We understand that sometimes individual exceptional circumstances require a supportive and flexible approach. The following policy outlines the HDLAC framework for consideration of guest arrangements and fee variation.

CENTRE AWARDS
HDLAC is proud to recognise athlete achievements by presenting awards at the conclusion of each season, the recipients being decided on the basis of points allocation. The system of point allocation is intended to encourage our athletes to participate in as many events as possible, to always strive for their own personal best, to represent our club at regional and state LAQ events and to recognise their achievements at the end of the season.
